The Ram Ancient Inn in Wotton-under-Edge, is reputedly one of the most haunted houses in Britain. Paranormal activity seems to be focused on the Bishops room, with several different phenomena being recorded in this room over the years. The former Inn dates back to the 12th century dating to 1145 and built on an ancient pagan burial site and is believed to be the scene of child sacrifices and devil worship. The Inn stands on a ley line running between Ley farm and Hetty Peglar's Tump, a stone age burial mound. Tracing the ley lines takes you on a path through the centre of Stonehenge, a place which people believe to have high spiritual energy. Within the Bar area of the Inn there are the the remains of a tunnel system, it is believed to link the Inn with St Marys Church and Lacock Abbey. The tunnels could have been used by Highwayman to escape the local body of judges.
